The numbers of international students enrolled in Intensive English Language programs (IEPs) has increased from 25,856 in 2007/8 to 28,524 in 2008/2009. The figures, released in the latest Open Doors report, which is published annually by the Institute of International Education (IIE), reveal that 4.2% of international students are studying in IEPs representing a change of 10.3% from the previous academic year. Overall, the popularity of Intensive English has declined very slightly (by 1%) as a chosen field of study when compared to other subjects such Business & Management and Engineering.
